Halflants + Pichette

Wilson Residence
Sarasota, FL

The house is designed for a contractor from St Louis who asked for exposed raw construction. The palette of materials is limited to cor-ten steel, glass, and exposed precast concrete. Sliding glass walls and expansive terraces help blur the distinction between interior and exterior.

Wide precast concrete beams maximize the cantilevers over the site and the creek. One such beam serves as the entry bridge into the house. The house retains a small footprint to help preserve the 2 acre site. While the site will remain in its natural state without formal lawns, the roof will be planted with drought tolerant grass.
